Maximalism – is it for you?

Posted on

We’ve all heard about minimalism, it’s been trendy recently thanks to the likes of Marie Kondo, author of “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” and the spotlight on things like capsule wardrobes¬†and tiny homes.

But what about maximalism, the polar opposite of the minimalist?

Think bold colors, mismatched patterns, walls stuffed to the brim with trinkets and art — but in a classy way. There are, of course, varying degrees of busy and bold; some maximalist home interiors keep it tame, and others bring the style to a whole new level.

Here are some of our favorite maximalist interiors for inspiration:

If you want to incorporate maximalist design principles in to your home’s interior the rules are easy – there are none! The important thing is to create a space full of things that bring you joy and that you love. Don’t worry about mixing and matching (shapes, sizes, colors, patterns) and be bold!
